Congenial Insensitivity to Pain with Anhidrosis is not a disorder only in text books. CIPA and many other Hereditary Sensory Autonomic Neuropathy disorders are very Rare. Only 17 cases have every been reported in the United States, but for these 17 people their disorder is very real. Two of these people are Ashlyn Blocker and Kayla Woodland. Ashlyn was 8 monthes old when her parents discovered insensitivity to pain. Ashlyn was very lucky. At 5 years old she was still able to go to school. Kayla however wasn't so lucky. She was home schooled and struggles with keeping her body at a health tempature. The woodland Family did get lucky when they were choosen for Extreme Makeover Home Edidion in 2007. A show giving homemake overs to families in need. Now she can have a home to help heer through CIPA.
